A bruised reed he will not break, and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out. Matthew 12:20 & Isaiah 42:3
This is a verse that was given to the church in the 1980's. The church has had its ups and downs but God has been faithful to his promise to South Ossett Baptist Church. One of the vestries where we enjoy refreshments and fellowship after the Sunday morning service.

About South Ossett Baptist Church
.We are a very friendly, Bible-based Baptist Church. We have a open and informal style of worship. We welcome participation from the members of the congregation in prayer, testimony, Scripture and song. South Ossett Baptist Church is located on a housing estate, on Junction Lane, Ossett. The church is a short distance from South Parade School, South Parade Sainsbury's local and the Prince of Wales' pub (on the corner of South Parade and Junction Lane). A brief history of South Ossett Baptist Church
South Ossett Baptist Church was formed in 1812. The services were held in a cottage on Baptist Lane, Ossett. In 1819, a barn was rented and furnished for worship. In 1860 the church bought the barn along with an adjoining cottage and a plot of land. In 1868 a chapel was built for the congregation to worship in. In 1894 the church built a school on the site. Initially it was a Sunday School, but in 1899 it became a day school. The church continued to worship in this Chapel until 1975. The church building in Baptist Lane was demolished and the present building on Junction Lane was purchased. South Ossett Baptist Church Leadership
We have a Minister in Training - Tracy Shields and two Elders David Coulthard and Richard Porteus, together they have spiritual oversight of the church. They serve as charity trustees. Members of the church meet together to pray and listen to how God wants to lead us. We are all involved in this process which is key to us Baptists. Statement of Faith
As a Baptist Church, South Ossett Baptist Church The Basis of the Baptist Union is: 1. That our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, is the sole and absolute authority in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures, and that each Church has liberty, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to interpret and administer His laws. 2. That Christian Baptism is the immersion in water into the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, of those who have professed repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ who 'died for our sins according to the Scriptures; was buried, and rose again on the third day'. 3. That it is the duty of every disciple to bear personal witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to take part in the evangelisation of the world. We are also members of the Evangelical Alliancewww.eauk.org
